Mary Jane Weiss, Dean of the Institute for Applied Behavioral Science (ABA) at Endicott College, was recently honored with the Murray Sidman Enduring Contribution Award, which recognized her profound and sustained impact in the field of behavior analysis.
Presented at the Massachusetts Professionals in Behavior Analysis (BABAT) Annual Conference, the award is named after Dr. Murray Sidman, a pioneering co-founder of the discipline, and recognizes a lifetime of exceptional contributions to research, teaching, clinical practice, and innovation.
“I am so honored and humbled to have earned the Murray Sidman Enduring Contribution Award. Dr. Sidman personified commitments to scientific excellence, humane and compassionate intervention, and improving the human condition through behavioral science,” said Weiss. “I am also honored to have received this recognition from BABAT, which was the first professional conference I ever attended as a first-semester graduate student.”
The honor adds to Weiss’s growing list of accolades, including the 2025 Outstanding Mentor Award from the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), which recognized her exceptional dedication to mentoring and shaping the next generation of behavior analysts. She was also honored with the Beth Sulzer-Azaroff Award for Distinguished Teaching in 2024, further highlighting her commitment to education and advancing the field.
Widely recognized as a leader in applied behavior analysis, Weiss has built a distinguished career spanning research, education, clinical practice, and mentorship. Her work focuses on advancing compassionate, ethical, and culturally responsive approaches to behavioral intervention, while her leadership at Endicott has helped position the College as a leading institution in the field, preparing future behavior analysts to make a meaningful impact in the communities they serve.
Founded in 1980 by Dr. Beth Sulzer-Azaroff, BABAT is Massachusetts’ professional organization for behavior analysts and students of behavior analysis. Since its inaugural conference with just a few dozen attendees, the organization has evolved into a professional community dedicated to advancing the field through education, collaboration, networking, and continued professional development.
