As a student in the biology and biotechnology program at Endicott, you'll receive cutting-edge technical training in courses and laboratory sessions that, together, provide knowledge and methodological skills in areas like:

  • Multitude of career options - work in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company, research institute, or hospital; pursue graduate or professional school to become a doctor, physician assistant, dentist, pharmacist, or run your own research lab.
  • Outstanding facilities - modern teaching/research labs, computer labs, and specialized facilities that include a DNA sequencing center, tissue culture room, fluorescent microscopes, high content imaging system, chemical instrumentation, Anatomage virtual dissection table, and augmented and virtual reality simulations.

  • Technical skills - develop biotechnology lab skills and learn how to do data analysis (e.g., statistics, bioinformatics) by coding in R.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the biology/biotechnology program, students will:

  • Demonstrate the critical inquiry and analysis skills needed to engage constructively in intellectual discourse within the major discipline.
    • For Biology/Biotechnology, this includes designing studies, conducting experiments that utilize appropriate and safe techniques when working in laboratory and professional settings, and critically assessing and verifying scientific information.
  • Communicate effectively in written form within the conventions of the major discipline.
  • Apply quantitative reasoning to problems within the major discipline.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with core concepts in the major discipline: evolution; structure-function relationships; information flow, exchange, and storage; pathways and transformations of energy and matter; interconnectedness of living systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to successfully apply and adapt curricular learning to the internship experience.
