FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott College and Beverly Main Streets are pleased to announce that Beverly artist Brian Murphy will be the Arts Fest 2019 featured artist. Murphy is a multi-disciplinary artist whose creative output includes sculpture, mixed media, furniture and painting. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), he has worked and won awards in the advertising and commercial art world for more than 30 years.

Murphy’s art, which art can be found in private and public collections across the country, combines the artist’s love of sculpture and painting and often features the use of wood, metals, and found objects such as old pipes or discarded hardware. His paintings capture light, shadow and how it transforms the surface to give the subject volume and an overall soothing feel.

Works by Murphy will be on display at Arts Fest 2019 on Cabot Street in Beverly on Saturday, June 15. In addition, an exhibition of his works is on display at Endicott College from June 10 to August 9. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, June 13 from 5-7 p.m. in the Carol Grillo Gallery and Desnoyers Overlook within Endicott’s Walter J. Manninen Center for the Arts. Both the opening reception at Endicott and the Arts Fest event on Cabot Street in downtown Beverly are free and open to the public.

Beyond his artwork, Murphy has been active as past president and longtime member of the Beverly Rotary Club, past president of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and he has served on the boards of the Good Friday Walk, the Fischer and Fuel Society of Beverly, and Beverly Youth Hockey. He has also been an ambassador for the North Shore Chamber of Commerce, coached many youth sports teams, and donated his time and talents to Beverly Main Streets.
