Endicott College Students will present an eclectic concert on Tuesday, December 11 at 5:30 p.m. The Endicott Chamber Ensemble will perform pieces for strings and winds; students who have been studying piano and voice will showcase pieces of classical, Broadway, Jazz and other styles. The concert will be held at Endicott College’s Interfaith Chapel. Tickets are $10 general admission, and $1 for EC ID holders, and can be purchased at tickets.endicott.edu, at (978) 998-7700, or at the door.

“This concert is one of my favorites each year because I get to see such a range of what students are learning in both the Chamber Ensemble and in private lessons,” said Christopher Lawnsby, pianist for the private instruction students. “You see students’ personalities come through in what music they choose to study and perform.”

Led by Professor Nathan Cohen, the Chamber Ensemble will play highlights of their fall repertoire, including music from an upcoming Endicott presentation of the critically acclaimed puppet show Lollipops for Breakfast. Throughout the semester, students from the ensemble have been working with Lollipops composer Brendan Burns to arrange the show’s score, originally composed for a two-man band, to fit the 10-piece Chamber Ensemble. Burns has even composed an overture specifically for the Chamber Ensemble.

“It’s wild to develop music in real time with a composer and arranger,” said Garrett Mandeville, sophomore, and pianist with the group. “Working with Brendan (Burns) has shown us exactly how music is created from scratch, and also how it can be adapted.”

Please note that this performance will be in the Interfaith Chapel, not in the Center for the Arts.
