Van Loan School at Endicott College and Cape Abilities Collaborate to Offer Master of Education BCBA Coursework Program

January 12, 2016 – Given the rapidly growing need for master’s level licensed Applied Behavior Analysts to assist individuals with autism spectrum disorder and intellectual and developmental disabilities on Cape Cod, the Van Loan School at Endicott College is proud to partner with Cape Abilities to offer a brand new curriculum program to be held at Cape Abilities in Hyannis, Massachusetts . 

This new partnership creates two coursework options for master’s level training in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Students can select to pursue a Masters of Education (M.Ed) in ABA, or a certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Under the new leadership of Rosalie Edes as President/Executive Director of Cape Abilities, we look forward to a long and productive relationship, expanding the availability of graduate level education on Cape Cod." 

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by deficits in social interactions and social communications and by restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior.  It affects the development of the brain, causing difficulty with behavior, communication, learning and social interaction. 

With the increasing incidence rate for autism now at one in 68 individuals, Van Loan School and Cape Abilities are offering this new program to qualified individuals to help meet the critical and urgent need for Board Certified Behavior Analysts to assist those with ASK improve both social and communication skills.

 This program and its curriculum are being provided under the auspices of the Institute of Behavioral Studies at the Van Loan School at Endicott College, and will be taught by Van Loan instructors, recognized nationally in the field of behavioral analysis. Of the 15 largest BCBA programs in the world, Endicott ranks 4th in the BCBA passing scores. 

Coursework will begin February 2, 2016 and the program is open to all applicants holding a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education. All applicants to the program will be required to complete the full Van Loan School application process. Students can complete the program in 15 months and will then be eligible to sit for the BCBA examination and become a licensed ABA in Massachusetts.
