Why do you choose to do community service? As an international student, I’ve sometimes felt a bit isolated, but community service helps me feel connected and part of positive change. It’s not only about giving back, volunteering creates a welcoming space where I can participate equally in meaningful activities at Endicott. Community service is important to me because it allows me to engage with other students and people beyond campus, helping me feel more rooted in the community.
Do you feel there are any benefits specifically for you when you serve? Definitely, there’s no debate about that. I like being part of a community that strives to make a difference, and volunteering helps me move toward my goals while giving me positive energy. It also helps my mental health by giving me a break from my studies and allowing me to stay physically and socially active. Every little act of service has the potential to create a bigger impact, and through volunteering I am learning how meaningful change often begins with small steps.
What are your favorite service projects to do? I enjoy all service projects, but my favorites are distributing food at shelters and participating in the Backpack Giving Service.
Why should others serve? I believe real engagement and real change begin with the smallest acts of service we can offer. As young people, volunteering teaches us valuable lessons that will help us throughout our lives. Each time we serve, we contribute to something bigger than ourselves and help build a stronger community.

Do you feel there are any benefits specifically for you when/while you serve? When I serve, I get the satisfaction that I am making a change and an impact on my community despite anything else going on. I also feel great thinking that I could have just made someone else’s day a lot better!
What are your favorite service projects to do? I love working in soup kitchens and working on farms!
