Marcelaine Reneau
Profile
Dr. Marcelaine Reneau is a PhD-prepared Family Nurse Practitioner and the Chair of the FNP Program at Endicott College's Cummings School of Nursing and Health Sciences. She brings to this role more than 30 years of advanced practice nursing experience spanning critical care, emergency medicine, military and veteran health, integrative pain management, and primary care — along with a sustained commitment to nursing education, faculty development, and health equity.
Dr. Reneau earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University, her Master of Science in Nursing from Hawaii Pacific University, and her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Prior to joining Endicott College, she served as Assistant Professor at MUSC's College of Nursing, where she taught across the DNP curriculum, including Advanced Clinical Assessment and Reasoning, Advanced Care Management, and Evidence-Based Practice, while simultaneously maintaining an active clinical practice as an FNP in MUSC Internal Medicine. She also served as Chair of the Graduate Curriculum Committee, a Faculty Senate representative, and a Chair of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee.
Her clinical career has been defined by a willingness to serve where the need is greatest. Dr. Reneau has practiced in U.S. Army medical facilities in Germany and Hawaii, the Ralph Johnson VA Medical Center's Primary Care Clinic, and Integrative Pain Clinic in Charleston, SC, and community-based primary care settings. She holds certifications in battlefield acupuncture, advanced integrative dry needling, HeartMath, telehealth, and end-of-life care, reflecting her belief that rigorous evidence and integrative, whole-person approaches to care are complementary, not competing.
Dr. Reneau's program of research centers on integrative pain management and health equity. Her work on heart rate variability biofeedback for the treatment of fibromyalgia in veterans has been published in the Journal of Pain Management Nursing and the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, and she has presented her scholarship at regional and national conferences including the Southern Nursing Research Society Annual Conference and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners National Conference. She is also a co-author on ongoing research examining maternal and infant outcomes in patients with sickle cell disease in South Carolina.
Health equity is not only a scholarly pursuit for Dr. Reneau, it is a thread woven through her community engagement and service. She has chaired the Health Committee of the Charleston, SC NAACP Branch, has provided wellness education to Gullah Geechee community members and senior centers across the Lowcountry, and has offered monthly complementary wellness classes through the Bliss Spiritual Co-Op in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
A preceptor to NP and DNP students across four institutions over two decades, Dr. Reneau was honored as Preceptor of the Year by Hawaii Pacific University's College of Health and Society in 2008. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Nurses Association, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
At Endicott College, Dr. Reneau is committed to developing clinically excellent, equity-centered nurse practitioners who are prepared not only to provide outstanding patient care, but to lead change within the systems their communities depend upon.
