Amy Trillcott, member of Endicott's Class of 2022, had her reservations about college after graduating high school. She decided to attend Endicott's Onboard program, a three-day, two-night retreat led by returning student leaders designed to bring incoming students together before the fall semester. Amy's experience changed her perspective on college and catapulted her into first-year success at Endicott.
Onboard allows students to create new friendships, address common transitional concerns, and learn about different opportunities at Endicott. New to Onboard in 2019, each retreat will have a specific focus area that students may already be connected with or want to learn more about. The five focus areas this year include:
Outdoor Adventure (two sessions)
Visual & Performing Arts
Health & Wellness
I was definitely excited to start college
but I was also pretty scared
because, I mean, it's a big transition.
Basically, my whole world is going to
be tipped upside-down.
The night before was terrifying and then
the night after that,
I got to know some people at Onboard.
I got to really connect with them and I
found out I'm not the only one that's terrified.
Getting to realize that for me was a
really big step.
I came in, coming through the front gate,
with all the people cheering and
my mom and dad were like,
"Hey! That's going to be you one day."
I was like, "Yeah, okay."
I've come full circle within a year.
This year, I was at the front gate and I was
cheering people coming in and saying,
"Hey! I remember what that felt like."
[So what year are you?]
I'm a freshman
[So this your first kind of thing.]
Oh yeah, I've gone full cycle since I first started.
[Was it a good choice for you?]
Oh, 100 percent.
