Program Overview

Endicott’s M.Ed. in School Counseling prepares graduates to serve as architects of student achievement, fostering inclusive environments where every learner has the opportunity to thrive. This program represents a critical intersection of student wellness and systemic equity, equipping counselors to dismantle barriers to opportunity while supporting the social-emotional health of diverse populations. Graduates emerge not merely as advisors, but as transformative advocates ready to lead data-driven change across the K-12 landscape.

Choose Your Pathway: Initial vs. Dual Licensure

Prospective students can select the pathway that best aligns with their professional trajectory, choosing between a specialized school counseling focus or a broader clinical scope:

Program Track Credit Count Licensure Outcome
Initial Licensure Program 48 Credits MA DESE School Counselor (All Levels)
Dual Licensure Program 60 Credits MA DESE School Counselor + Mental Health Counseling / LMHC Eligibility

The 60-credit Dual Licensure track is uniquely designed for candidates seeking to maximize their clinical versatility. This pathway includes the "LMHC Course Preparation Bundle," which provides the specific educational requirements and foundational preparation necessary for Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) licensure eligibility. It is the ideal choice for those who wish to bridge the gap between intensive mental health clinical training and specialized school-based expertise.

The Endicott Experiential Edge

Our clinical model ensures that candidates move seamlessly from theory to high-impact practice through a rigorous field-based sequence. The program requires 500 total hours of field experience, structured into two distinct 250-hour clinical blocks.

  • Practicum I: Foundations (250 Hours): An initial immersion in school counseling environments, focusing on observation, reflective logging, and the development of core foundational skills under expert supervision.
  • Practicum II: Applied Counseling & Leadership (250 Hours): A culminating experience where candidates assume increased responsibility, leading interventions and demonstrating the leadership skills required to manage a comprehensive school counseling program.

Candidate readiness for the profession is validated through the School Counselor Candidate Assessment of Performance (SC-CAP) and the completion of a Professional Portfolio. These assessments ensure that every graduate meets the highest standards of the field before entering a school environment.
