School of Sport Science & Fitness Studies

Within the School of Sport Science and Fitness Studies, students select innovative programs in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Physical Education Teacher Licensure and Sport Management. Over the last forty years, the sports science field has evolved into a professional enterprise. Consequently, the knowledge base in the sports science disciplines has increased in both depth and breadth. These developments and adaptations within the sports domain are reflected in the interdisciplinary program specializations.

Athletic Training

Our philosophy is to incorporate practical hands on experience with an intensive educational curriculum containing the necessary competencies and proficiencies established by the NATA Education Council. Students enroll in major courses early in the program to create a strong foundation to master upper level competencies and to strengthen and refine clinical skills.

Physical Education Teacher Licensure

The College currently offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education Teacher Licensure. The teacher licensure program prepares students for careers as Physical Education Teachers, Recreational Sport Organizers and Health and Fitness Club Professionals. The program curriculum meets the standards required by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Upon completion of the program students can apply to receive a license to teach physical education at two levels: Pre-K through grade 8 and Grades 5 through 12.

The Coaching Certificate is open to all students at Endicott College. Students who wish to become certified in coaching by the School of Sport Science and Fitness Studies must complete an application to be admitted to the program.
