Lumens: A Holiday Choral Experience with The Endicott Singers

The Endicott Singers get into the holiday spirit with Lumens
Join the Endicott Singers in the Interfaith Chapel for an intimate candlelit holiday performance: Lumens, December 6 and 9
12/5/2018

This December, join the Endicott Singers in the Interfaith Chapel for an intimate candlelit holiday performance: Lumens. Winners of the 2017 collegiate division of PBS’s Sing That Thing!, the acclaimed Endicott Singers will present Lumens on Thursday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the Endicott College Interfaith Chapel. Tickets are $15 General Admission, $5 for seniors and students of other schools, and $1 for Endicott ID holders and can be purchased at tickets.endicott.edu, at (978) 998-7700, or at the door.

“This is our first concert dedicated to all holiday music in many years,” said Endicott Singers President Diana Celularo, senior. “We are excited to perform by candlelight, and in creative formations in the space.”

Through the theme of Lumens, or light, the choirs will sing some songs you’ll recognize, and some that will introduce you to new celebrations of Christmas and Chanukah. Hum along to favorites and to be touched by pieces that bring timeless holiday messages into modern focus. The concert features guest percussionist George Darrah, pianist Chris Lawnsby, many student soloists, and performances by the select women’s and men’s choirs, Harmonelle and Bassline. Directed by Becca Kenneally, with assistant director, Trey Pratt.

“I wanted to take elements like chant, folksong, and medieval carols, and set them against modern settings of holiday music to shine a light on how timeless the theme of holiday magic is,” said Kenneally. “Whether there is a miraculous birth, a miraculous extension of burning lamp oil, or other miracles, all can be experienced through music and choral singing.”

Kenneally said the choirs will not just stand in one place and sing, but will shift formation, sometimes surrounding the audience with sound. With beautiful acoustics and ambiance, she said she hopes the effect will be a magical element on top of the enchanting music.

Please note that this performance will be in the Interfaith Chapel, not in the Center for the Arts. If you have any questions regarding Lumens please contact Rebecca Kenneally at rkenneal@endicott.edu or visit our ticketing site at tickets.endicott.edu.
