Acclaimed Endicott College Authors to Host Third Annual Young Writers Workshop

Author Charlotte Gordon is among the faculty at the 2019 Endicott College Young Writers Workshop.
Students who will be entering grades 9-12 in the fall and who are interested in creative writing are encouraged to apply for a summer workshop featuring sessions on poetry, fiction, screenwriting, playwriting, humor writing, and young adult writing. Participants will work closely with esteemed Endicott faculty members.

BEVERLY, Mass. – Students who will be entering grades 9-12 in the fall and who are interested in creative writing are encouraged to apply for this summer workshop:
 
Third Annual Young Writers Workshop

The workshop will feature sessions on poetry, fiction, screenwriting, playwriting, humor writing, and young adult writing. Participants will work closely with esteemed Endicott faculty members Charlotte Gordon, National Book Critics Circle award-winner for her Romantic Outlaws: The Extraordinary Lives of Mary Wollstonecraft and Mary Shelley; Elizabeth Winthrop, author of four novels, including The Mercy Seat, which was ranked as the best novel of 2018 by the BBC; Dan Sklar, a widely-published poet and playwright that has twice won Endicott’s Excellence in Teaching Award; Laurie Stolarz, best-selling young adult author behind the Blue is for Nightmare series, among others; and Alena Dillon, author of the forthcoming HarperCollins book Mercy House. Alex Davis, who teaches improvisational comedy at Endicott, will also offer an “improv for writers” session.
 
“This is an outstanding and unique opportunity for young writers to hone their skills with distinguished and supportive faculty on our seaside campus,” says Mark Herlihy, associate dean of Endicott’s School of Arts & Sciences and chair of humanities.
 
Registration is available online at endicottyoungwritersworkshop2019.eventbrite.com. The $175 registration fee includes all activities, lunch and snacks for each day, and a T-shirt.
