Information for all graduating students

  • Commencement Ceremony

Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. The event will be held outdoors at Hempstead Stadium. Guest seating will open at 9:00 a.m. We request that all guests be seated by 10:15 a.m., when the procession begins. Six color-coded tickets for the outdoor ceremony allow seating as follows: two dark blue and two light blue tickets for field seating, two white tickets for seating in the bleachers.

Graduates must arrive no later than 9 a.m. and gather in the MacDonald Gymnasium, located in the Post Center. Staff will direct the line-up. The College requests guests' cooperation in remaining outside the student robing area.

While we anticipate that the ceremony will be held in the stadium - rain or shine - in extreme weather conditions, the ceremony may be moved to the Post Center Field House. Two dark blue tickets will allow indoor seating.

Additional guests may watch the ceremony simulcast live in the Endicott Auditorium in the Wax Center and at other locations on campus. The simulcast may also be viewed in high definition on ECTV Channel 73.1, as well as the Endicott College Commencement webpage. This free audio and video webcasting alternative will allow your extended family and friends to experience this memorable event. Simply click on the "watch live" link on the Commencement main page.

  • Graduation Application

If you will be completing your degree this May or plan to participate in Commencement exercises, the Graduation Application must be filed no later than March 15! The Graduation Application is also available in hard copy in the Registrar's Office or the Student Affairs office. The application must be completed whether you plan to participate or not. It is necessary that we know your plans to ensure appropriate seating and prepare your diploma.

  • Commencement Participation Policy

All graduating seniors must complete a Graduation Application and all financial obligations to the College must be met in order to participate in Commencement. You may also participate in Commencement exercises prior to completion of degree requirements if you have no more than six credits (two courses) left to complete your degree, or have only your 12-credit internship left to complete, and meet the minimum GPA requirement

You may only participate in one Commencement exercise per degree.

  • Graduation Fee

The graduation fee covers a variety of items associated with Commencement, including a degree audit, preparation of diploma, cap, gown, hood, award ceremony, and baccalaureate and commencement ceremonies. The graduation fee will be automatically billed to your tuition account at Endicott in the semester and year that you are expected to graduate. It is not necessary to submit payment with the graduation application, since you will be billed for the fee. The fee must be paid before you receive your degree.

  • Commencement Day Logistics

Graduates must arrive no later than 9 a.m. and gather in the MacDonald Gymnasium, located in the Post Center. Endicott staff will be on hand to provide direction for the line-up. The processional will begin promptly at 10:15 a.m. The College requests guests' cooperation in remaining outside the student robing area. We encourage family and friends to make arrangements for pre-Commencement photos elsewhere.

The processional begins in the Post Center promptly at 10:15 a.m. and proceeds to the Hempstead Stadium. When it is time for you to receive your diploma, you will be called to the platform in alphabetical order by level of degree. For this reason, it is imperative that you attend rehearsal, remain in the correct order, and follow seating assignments in the appropriate rows. The President and Vice President of the Undergraduate College will hand out degrees for undergraduate students, provided all College requirements have been met. The President will also host a Commencement Reception for graduates, guests, and faculty at the Callahan Center following the ceremony. All are invited.

  • Announcements and Ceremony Tickets

Each participant in the Commencement ceremony will be able to pick up the following items at the Student Affairs Office, located in the Callahan Center, from Monday, May 1, 2018 to Friday, May 18, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.:

    • 10 Commencement announcements (note that these are not tickets)
    • 2 field seating tickets (dark blue)
    • 2 additional field seating tickets (light blue)*
    • 2 bleacher seating tickets (white)*
*Note: If the ceremony must be moved indoors because of weather conditions, seating in the Field House cannot be guaranteed for holders of light blue or white tickets.

You must present your Endicott College ID to pick up your packets. You are not allowed to pick up any other students’ packets. The announcements are for you to use as you choose. Others may attend the Commencement ceremony, but only ticket holders will gain entry to the Stadium.

  • Caps and Gowns

Participation in the Commencement ceremony requires that a cap, gown, and hood be worn. The cost of these items is included in your graduation fee. You may pick up your cap, gown, and hood in the College Bookstore, located in the Callahan Center, starting on May 1, 2018.

  • Academic Honors

The following designations of academic distinction are placed on the degrees of graduates who have earned superior records of academic achievement at Endicott: Summa Cum Laude: a cumulative grade point average of 3.9 – 4.0; Magna Cum Laude: a cumulative grade point average of 3.7 – 3.89; Cum Laude: a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 – 3.69.

  • Photographs

During the Commencement ceremony, access to the stage area for picture taking or videotaping by guests will be limited to a designated area. Essex Commencement Photos will take student pictures as diplomas are received. The photographer will contact graduates in writing with specifics on ordering photographs along with the cost.

  • Stole of Gratitude

The Endicott Stole of Gratitude is a College tradition and a symbol of thanks. Worn during the Commencement ceremony, the stole carries the sincere appreciation by the graduate for someone who provided extraordinary help or support. Following the ceremony, the graduate presents the stole. Recipients include parents, relatives, or mentors – anyone who may have helped with wisdom, encouragement, or financial assistance. More than one stole may be worn during Commencement, symbolizing that there are many people in the graduate's life deserving of such a gift. The stoles are available in the Bookstore for $19.95 each.

  • Commencement Guest Information

Tickets: Only guests with tickets will be seated. Due to the high number of family and friends who will be attending the ceremony, seating will be based on a first come, first served basis. Standing room with a good view of the platform will be at a minimum. Please keep in mind that guests will not be permitted to stand in any of the walkways for safety reasons.

Guests with Mobility Concerns: All guests with mobility concerns must fill out the Barrier Free Form (which will be available Spring 2018) by May 10, 2018 to make appropriate arrangements. Specified barrier-free parking will be available for guests who have notified us according to the parking guidelines. Both field and bleacher seating are accessible for ticket holders. If guests must be accompanied, it must be with a ticket holder. There will be ASL interpreters at the ceremony. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Barbara Lucier via email at commencement@endicott.edu.

Campus Facilities: Restroom facilities are available in the Stadium Support building and the Post Center. Portable facilities are also conveniently located inside the stadium gates. Dining facilities will not be available during the ceremony, although a reception for graduates and families will be held at the Callahan Center immediately following Commencement.

Accommodations: For overnight accommodations please consider the Wylie Inn at Endicott (15% discount off the current rates to all Endicott College-affiliated travelers). Contact frontdesk@wyliecenter.com or visit our web page for a listing of other area accommodations.

  • Parking

With the large number of graduates and guests expected at the 2018 Commencement, Endicott College will be using both on- and off-campus parking lots on Saturday, May 19, 2018.

Parking on campus will be allowed on a first come, first served basis, so we highly encourage all guests and graduates to arrive early and carpool if possible. Officers will direct vehicles throughout the day.

General access parking will be available through the East Gate (near Brindle Hall) and Stoneridge Lane (across from the Wylie Inn). All general access parking must enter from these two points. The main gate is reserved for VIP, emergency vehicles, and those guests with barrier-free reserved parking. <Barrier-free parking form (PDF)>

Once campus parking is full, vehicles will be diverted to the off-site parking lot at North Shore Music Theatre. Parking attendants and signage will direct guests to these lots at 62 Dunham Road, Beverly, Mass. (usually a 10-minute ride from the College, but traffic may add extra time). It is suggested that guests use the North Shore Music Theatre lots first, rather than attempting to find parking on campus. Shuttles will provide transportation to and from campus throughout the day.
