Applying experience to any industry
Daniel Zabbo, a sport management major, wasn’t married to an internship that was solely sports related. Instead, he chose one with a marketing focus. He decided to intern with The Gold Group, an all-purpose marketing firm that markets ticketed events and handles promotion, advertising, and event management.
One of the things he learned through working with The Gold Group was the importance of the details. He explains, “most importantly in this industry it’s critical not to skimp out on the details.” He says that no matter what career he chooses to pursue in the future, whether it is in marketing or sales, he’ll always understand how crucial a role the details play in any industry.
For him, an internship means gaining experience necessary to succeed in any career. He explains, “I think any internship is experience no matter what the field because you’re going to be able to use the things you learn and build the skills you need to go forward.”
Zabbo’s favorite aspect of working with The Gold Group was, “Being able to work with so many different clients and learn about so many different markets,” he says. Whether he considers getting his MBA or pursues a full-time sales position, he’s keeping his options open. His internship made his passion for traveling and making connections with people very clear. He craves getting on the road and being able to communicate with many different people—no matter what career he chooses.
