Studio Art Art Education Teacher Licensure Concentration

  • Program Overview

The art education concentration provides studio art majors the opportunity to pursue teacher licensure for pre-kindergarten through high school.

As a studio art major, you may pursue an art education teacher licensure concentration to become licensed to teach in preK–grade 8 or grades 5–12 in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The experience you will gain at Endicott is comprehensive. You will complete freshman and sophomore internships in a range of school settings, a sophomore and junior field experience connected to your secondary education courses, a junior year pre-practicum, and senior year full practicum experience. Upon graduation, you will have completed all of the requirements necessary to apply for an initial license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and you will be eligible to pursue licensure in many other states. Students receive free preparation for the required Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) as part of the program.

Upon graduation, you will have amassed a significant body of work in painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, and ceramics, from which you will build a website and portfolio book in preparation for the workforce.
