Description

The Director works closely with the Dean of Nursing, and the Chair of the Master’s Nurse Practitioner Program to advise and carry out administrative responsibilities of the Master’s Nurse Practitioner Program.  Responsibilities include advising nurse practitioner students, assisting with the marketing and recruitment of students, assisting with internship sites, providing administrative support, seeking external funding, pursuing scholarship and participating in accreditation preparation.
Responsibilities:
1. Teach 4 courses in load over a calendar year
2. Responsible for management of the Master’s nurse practitioner program. 
3. Develop and implement marketing plans for the degree program.
4. Recruit prospective students
5. Participate in admission review
6. Advise and mentor the nurse practitioner students.
7. Develop the course schedules for master’s nursing programs, in consultation with the Chair of the Master’s Nurse Practitioner Program. 
8. Responsible for hiring and mentoring adjunct faculty in addition to oversight of all adjunct faculty in the NP program.
9. Collaborate with Dean, School of Nursing and other graduate administrators on curricular and administrative matters
10. Assist Dean of Nursing in writing reports and complying with accreditation  standards
11. Maintain current clinical practice in specialty area as required by professional accreditation group
12. Participate in ongoing program evaluation for curriculum
13. Participate on School and College committees
14. Actively participate in relevant professional organizations
15. Write grants for external funding
16. Approve internship agencies, oversee student compliance with state and local regulations, and maintain agreements with agencies, in consultation with Chair of the NP Program.
17. Consult with students on appropriate selection and requirements for graduate internship sites, completion of internship packets, synthesis papers and e-portfolio.
18. Oversees the committee on student and faculty grievances.  
19. Perform other duties as assigned
 

Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Nursing preferred (may be in process)
Master’s degree in nursing with an Advanced Practitioner Certificate (FNP)
Evidence of active participation as a nurse practitioner
Ability to instruct advanced graduate level courses
Significant experience working with adult students in a higher education setting
Prior administrative experience
Strong organizational skills
Significant scholarship and research and/or professional practice experience
Faculty who teach clinical components of the nurse practitioner program/track must maintain currency in practice.  A weekly practice day is allowed to maintain this requirement.
 
  • Doctoral degree preferred, preferably in nursing;
  • Ability to instruct advanced graduate level courses ;
  • Significant experience working with adult students in a higher education setting;
  • Prior administrative experience;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Significant scholarship and research and/or professional practice experience.
