Description

  1. Teach 4 courses in load over a calendar year.
  2. Oversee the master’s in nursing practitioner program including curriculum development and monitoring, monitoring credentials of adjunct faculty, and advise the Dean on accreditation standards.
  3. Approve internship agencies, oversee student compliance with state and local regulations, and maintain agreements with agencies.
  4.  Consult with students on appropriate selection and requirements for graduate internship sites, completion of internship packets, synthesis papers and e-portfolios, in collaboration with the other graduate nursing personnel.
  5. Develop with other nursing administrators and Director of Van Loan Marketing marketing strategies for the program.  Recruit prospective students.
  6. Oversee admissions to the program and advise nurse practitioner students.
  7. Collaborate with the Dean of Nursing and other graduate administrators on curricular and administrative matters.
  8. Maintain current clinical practice in specialty area as required by professional accreditation group***
  9. Assist Dean of Nursing in writing reports and complying with accreditation standards.
  10. Participate in ongoing program evaluation for curriculum.
  11. Participate in School and College committees.
  12. Actively participate in relevant professional organizations.
  13. Write grants for external funding.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree preferred, preferring in nursing (doctoral degree may be in process); Master’s degree in nursing and nationally certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner as well as licensed in state of Massachusetts as a Nurse Practitioner; ability to instruct advanced graduate level courses; significant experience working with adult students in a higher education setting; prior administrative experience; strong organizational skills; significant scholarship and research and/or professional practice experience.

Faculty who teach clinical components of the nurse practitioner program/track must maintain currency in practice.  A weekly practice day is allowed to maintain this currency.
