The Business Analyst is responsible for insuring data integrity in the Jenzabar Student Information System for Admissions, Bursar, Financial Aid and Registrar data for the Van Loan School This position conducts functional systems testing, manages the student self-service application, troubleshoots functional problems, creates and runs quality control reports and other system queries for data validation and analysis. The Business Analyst will be required to learn the business practices and data flow used by Van Loan so that they can assist in the automation and standardization of the functional areas.
a. Monitor the integrity of the data relied upon by Van Loan and the Endicott Community; perform data validations and analysis using database reports, troubleshoot issues and work with the appropriate staff to recommend and implement solutions to enforce data standards.
b. Monitor and update the necessary database tables and sources of data that are used for Van Loan processes and applications.
c. Examine business processes between the Van Loan functional areas and propose relevant solutions to business problems.
d. Develop new reports and modify existing reports to coincide with business standards:
o Support Van Loan Vice President/Dean, Management and Program Directors by providing standard and ad-hoc reports as needed.
o Support users in other Endicott divisions (Institutional Research, Financial Aid, Director of Student Licensure, Human Resources) by providing reports and analysis when needed.
o Works with other Van Loan staff members (Bursar, Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid) to develop reports to support business goals and objectives.
e. Become proficient in the use of the Jenzabar CX software, JICS and Cognos reporting tool in order to enhance business functions.
f. Work with Endicott’s Information Technology to participate in the development, testing, implementation of new systems and enhancements to existing systems.
g. Assist in troubleshooting problems with user credentials for Van Loan students.
Bachelor’s degree required; B.S. in Computer Science preferred.
Minimum of two years of proven experience in development, production and maintenance of the dynamic, complex, multi-user application.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Highly developed analytic and organizational skills.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced functional and technical team environment.
Previous background in database concepts and/or Higher Education experience highly desirable.
