POSITION SUMMARY:   The Associate Director oversees the master’s degree programs offered within the School of Nursing. Responsibilities include the marketing and recruitment of students; coordinating internship sites; developing and monitoring curriculum; advising students; seeking external funding; pursuing scholarship and participating in accreditation processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Teach 4 courses in load over a calendar year.
  2. Responsible for managing the Master’s in Nursing programs;
  3. Develop and implement marketing plans for the degree program;
  4. Recruit prospective students;
  5. Participate in admission review;
  6. Advise and mentor the graduate students;
  7. Develop the course schedules for master’s nursing programs;
  8. Create and maintain a graduate student manual;
  9. Collaborate with Dean, School of Nursing on curricular and administrative matters;
  10. Assist Dean of Nursing in writing reports and complying with accreditation  standards;
  11. Participate in ongoing program evaluation for curriculum;
  12. Participate on School and College committees;
  13. Actively participate in relevant professional organizations;
  14. Write grants for external funding;
  15. Approve internship agencies, oversee student compliance with state and local regulations, and maintain agreements with agencies;
  16.  Consult with students on appropriate selection and requirements for graduate internship sites, completion of internship packets, synthesis papers and e-portfolio;
  17. Verify criminal background checks completed and clears students for enrollment in internship;
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree preferred, preferably in nursing;
  • Ability to instruct advanced graduate level courses ;
  • Significant experience working with adult students in a higher education setting;
  • Prior administrative experience;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Significant scholarship and research and/or professional practice experience.
