Transfer Credits

Undergraduate Programs:

A maximum of 85 credits from accredited colleges may be transferred into Endicott College bachelor’s degree programs. Grades of “C” or better will be accepted, and no more than six credits may carry a “C-” grade. A minimum of 24 of the last 30 credits toward a degree must be earned at Endicott.

Endicott will grant credit for transfer courses with a grade of “Pass” unless there is some specific indication on the transcript that the “Pass” is minimal and equivalent to a grade of “D.”

Accepted transfer credits are counted as credits toward the degree but are not computed into the student’s grade-point average. Semester and cumulative grade-point averages reflect only courses taken at Endicott.

This policy does not apply to students in the following majors: education and nursing. Please see the information for these programs provided below.

  • Education Programs

Endicott College offers a number of programs in its School of Education. Each program has specific course and credit requirements for each year of study. Transfer students should review those requirements as noted in the School of Education Academic Programs section of the Endicott Catalog and present a course syllabus for any courses which may satisfy those requirements and a transcript from the previous program for evaluation by the school dean.

A maximum of 85 credits may be transferred to Endicott. Twenty-four of the last 30 credits must be taken at Endicott to receive a degree. Students’ cumulative GPAs are determined only by courses taken at Endicott.

  • Nursing Program

A student who seeks to transfer from another school into the Endicott School of Nursing must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Transfer credit for science courses is awarded only if the course was completed with a “C” or better within seven years of matriculation at Endicott.

To request transfer credit for a nursing course taken at another institution, the applicant must present a course syllabus for each nursing course and a transcript from the previous program for evaluation by the Nursing Faculty Committee. The applicant may be required to take examination(s) to assess previous learning.

A maximum of 85 credits may be transferred to Endicott. One hundred twenty-six to 128 credits are required to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Twenty-four of the last 30 credits must be taken at Endicott to receive a degree. Students’ cumulative GPAs are determined only by courses taken at Endicott.

  • RN to BSN Nursing Program

For bachelor’s degree programs, a maximum of 85 transfer credits from other accredited colleges may be applied to the Endicott bachelor’s degree provided the courses fit the curriculum of the major and the degree. Grades of “C” or better may be accepted, and no more than six credits may carry a “C-“grade. Official transcripts of previous college work, mailed directly to Endicott from colleges or universities, must be received to transfer credit to Endicott. Students must be matriculated before transfer credits can be added to the Endicott transcript.

To request transfer credit for a nursing course taken at another institution, the applicant must present a course syllabus for each nursing course and a transcript from the previous program for evaluation by the nursing faculty committee. The applicant may be required to take examination(s) to assess previous learning. RN students may be awarded toward the bachelor’s degree program, a maximum of 39 credits in transfer from their associate-level degree coursework. If accepted, these credits may fulfill the requirements of: Fundamentals of Nursing (NU 210), Care of Adults (NU 211), Psychosocial Nursing (NU 316), Care of Childbearing Families (NU 313), Care of Children (NU 314), and Acute Care Nursing (NU 410).

  • Advanced Placement (AP) Credits

Endicott participates in the Advanced Placement Program of the College Board. Course exemption and/or credit will be awarded to students presenting scores of 3 or higher on AP examinations except for math and science exams, which require a minimum score of 4. Detailed information for classes can be found here and at endicott.edu/registrar. Students should request that their scores be sent to the Office of Admission directly from the College Board (Code 3369). Once the scores have been evaluated, students will be notified of any advanced standing awarded.

  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

Students may take advantage of the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and receive credit for certain courses. CLEP examinations cover material taught in courses that most students take as requirements in the first two years of college. Endicott will award the same amount of credit to students earning satisfactory scores on the CLEP examination to students successfully completing that course.

The College recognizes college credit transferred as:

International Baccalaureate: Credit will be granted on a per-course basis for final grades obtained at the Higher Level. Grades 4 to 7 will be considered for equivalent college course credit. Six credits may be granted per each completed course accepted by the College. Eight credits may be granted for courses including laboratory sections. A maximum of 32 credits may be awarded to students who have earned the IB diploma.

British “A” Levels: Credit will be granted (six) for each “A” Level course completed with a passing grade.

Other Baccalaureate: French baccalaureate course work may be submitted for college credit evaluation. This also applies to German Abitur, Swiss Maturita, and Italian Maturita.

Other Transfer Credit: Credit will be granted from international institutions of higher education recognized by the government of the country that sponsors the institution. As indicated above, educational documents in a foreign language are required to be translated into English. Endicott reserves the right to require that students have their credentials evaluated by an approved external agency.

All transfer applicants will be notified of the number of credit hours accepted.
