Professor Courcy received a Master's Degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2004. She is certified by the American Nurse Credentialling Center (ANCC) in perinatal nursing, and was awarded a certificate of added qualification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring in 2008. Her clinical specialty areas include community health, maternity, newborn, and labor and delivery. She was awarded a sabbatical for the spring of 2013, during which she created an online faculty training program simulation. An avid Red Sox fan, Professor Courcy continues to play competitively as a second baseman, and was inducted into the Red Sox Fantasy Camp Hall of Fame in 2008. She spends summers hiking in the White Mountains of NH.
