Title: Campus Safety Lieutenant
Type: Staff
Full-/Part-Time: Full-Time

Hours: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Description:
  • Oversee all functions of the Parking Office, including annual review and updating of the Motor Vehicle Rules and Regulations.
  • Coordinate and oversee all requirements of Fire Inspections.
  • Train and supervise the Safe Driver/Detail Coordinator in his/her duties and train him/her as the backup for the Lieutenant’s duties.
  • Be qualified to perform all duties of a Sergeant and below.
  • Write and present Standard Operating Guidelines for the Campus Safety Department.
  • Write Performance Appraisals on Sergeants and any Officer under his/her immediate supervision.
  • Provide a safety and security presence on campus by application of conscientious vehicle, foot and bicycle patrol functions.
  • Act as an information resource for visitors and community members.
  • Employ effective community service oriented techniques, ensuring positive and professional interactions are maintained with the Endicott College community members.
  • Interact with local police, fire and ambulance agencies and assist as needed or directed.
  • Testify in judicial and criminal hearings as required.
  • Enforce applicable state criminal codes, College parking regulations, student code of conduct, and College regulations and policies.
  • Respond, supervise and investigate crimes reported, vehicle accidents on campus property, medical emergencies, fires, safety hazards and fire and security alarms received.
  • Oversee and assign security and safety inspections of buildings and grounds, openings and securing of buildings, and perform or assist in crime prevention functions.
  • Instruct safety related classes for Officers, Students, Staff and Faculty.
  • Participate in various functions and events sponsored by student groups.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director of Campus Safety.
  • Essential Personnel.
Qualifications:
  • Possess a valid Massachusetts driver's license
  • Must have prior experience as Campus Safety Sergeant
  • Pass annual motor vehicle and criminal background checks
  • Be a qualified instructor in a topic which relates to campus safety and/or security
  • Possess an Associate degree, equivalents, or higher (Bachelor preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of security or law enforcement experience, preferably in an academic environment
  • Demonstrate excellent people skills employing effective community service orientation techniques, ensuring positive and professional interactions are maintained with Endicott College community members and their guests
  • Demonstrate computer knowledge for all related systems and programs utilized by Campus Safety
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all camera systems associated with Campus Safety
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to complete all reports required in a clear and precise manner
  • Maintain active CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid (First Responder) certifications
  • Computer skills necessary:
