Biographical Profile
Although I grew up in New York City, I've spent my entire adult life in the Boston area. I graduated from Binghamton University with highest honors in history and election to Phi Beta Kappa and went on to work in publishing for a year. Then I returned to school to earn a masters in children's literature at Simmons College. A long career in children's literature and publishing ensued, part of which included teaching grad courses in children's literature. I have also written two books for children, FROM SEA TO SHINING SEA: A COLLECTION OF AMERICAN FOLKLORE AND FOLKSONGS and ABRAHAM LINCOLN, a picture book biography.
I came to Endicott College and the Center for Teaching and Learning seven years ago, splitting my time between the writing center and one-on-one work with students. I also teach children's literature in the English Department, a couple of sections of EC101, and from time to time I work with nontraditional undergraduates at the Van Loan School in a fabulous course called Applied Prior Learning (APL100).
I enjoy every part of this community tremendously -- students, colleagues, and those breathtaking ocean views.
I am married with two high-school aged children.
