GOONERANTNE, Yasmine

Education: Studied at Bishop's College in Colombo. Graduated from the University of Ceylon in 1959. Obtained a PhD in English Literature from Cambridge University in 1962. Received the Doctor of Letters from Macquarie University in 1981.
Professional Career: Foundation Director of Macquarie University's PostColonial Literatures & Languages Research Centre from 1989 to 1993. Named an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1990. Currently a Personal Chair in English Literature at Macquarie University, South Wales.
