ADCOCK, Fleur
 

Birth date: 1934
Birthplace: Papakura, New Zealand
Education: Received a degree in Classics from Victoria University in Wellington in 1954. She completed an M.A. in 1956.
Professional Career: Fleur Adcock has worked as an assistant lecturer in Classics at the University of Otago and in the University library. In 1963, she moved from New Zealand to London where she worked as a librarian in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Adcock has received two writing fellowships while living in London; the first at Charlotte Mason College of Education and the second at the Universities of Newcastle on Tyne and Durham. Since 1980, Adcock has worked as a freelance writer, producing her own poetry and translating and editing collections. She also delivers lectures on poetry for the British Broadcasting Corporation.

HULME, Keri 

Birth date: 1947
Birthplace: Christchurch, New Zealand
Education: Attended the University of Canterbury
Professional Career: Keri Hulme has worked as a fisher, TV director, cook and writer. She was writer-in-residence at Otago University in 1978, and at the University of Canterbury in 1985. She belongs to the New Zealand Literary Fund and the New Zealand Indecent Publications Tribunal. Her 1983 novel, The Bone People, won the Booker Prize.

SCOTT, Rosie 

Birth date: 1948
Birthplace: New Zealand
Education: She has an M.A. (hons) in English and Diplomas in English and Drama.
Professional Career: Rosie Scott has traveled and lived in Europe, the UK, the Pacific and Australia, working in publishing, journalism, social work, acting, waitressing and fruit picking. She was the script editor for such productions as Glory Days, Movie Dreams, Redheads (based on her own play), Archangel, Journey to the Last Chance. She lives in Sydney and is a full-time writer. Her novels have been short listed for the New Zealand Awards, the Banjo Patterson Awards, the Christina Stead National Book Award and the bicentennial National Book Awards. Her play, Redheads, won the Bruce Mason Sunday Times National Award.

 SUTHERLAND, Margaret

Birth date: 1941
Birthplace: New Zealan
Education: She trained as a Comprehensive nurse and received registration in 1979.
Professional Career: Margaret Sutherland began writing in response to life in suburbia. She migrated to Australia in the mid-80's and worked for some years as an Education Officer with the Newcastle Migrant Health Unit. She now runs a joint music-teaching practice with her second husband. She has continued to write and publish novels and short stories throughout this time. She has received two writing fellowships from the Australia Council.
