Education: Studied at Antonin Zapotocky University of Economics from
1963-1968.
Professional Career: Traveled to the U.S. in 1968 where she met and married
John Paul Quinn. Translator as well as writer of Czech novels.

SHYER, Marlene Fanta

Education: Obtained a B.S. in Religion from the University of Bridgeport.
Professional Career: Was an elementary school teacher in Portchester, NY from
1955-57. Won the Children's Book fo the Year Award from Child Study Association
of America in 1969. She also writes television scripts and submits short stories
to periodicals such as Good Housekeeping and Ladies Home Journal.

to Toronto in 1969. Opened her own publishing house, 68 Publishers, and was
awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Toronto and the Czech Order
of the White Lion for her literary contributions.
