Special Needs & ABA - Moderate Disabilities (M.Ed.)

The Master of Education in Special Needs and Behavioral Studies is designed to offer students aspiring to become both Licensed Special Education Teachers and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA®), the ability to complete the requirements for both in this combined Master's program.

Program Overview

The program is designed to accommodate those seeking either their Initial License or the Professional License as Teachers of Students with Moderate Disabilities. Both programs are 42 credit hours each, and are designed to be completed in two years. The program is approved by the Massachusetts Department of Education and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Completion of the program leads to institutional endorsement for Massachusetts licensure as teacher of students with moderate disabilities (preK-8 or 5-12) and meets the prerequisite coursework and experience standards of the Behavior Analysis Certification Board for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA®) credential.

Students can enroll for either:

Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Special Needs And Behavioral Studies

The full M.Ed. program includes preparation for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board examination as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Applicants must hold a valid undergraduate degree in any field. Before earning the certificate in BCBA, the student must have an earned Master’s degree.

Board Certification in Behavioral Analysis

The Certificate Program is only for individuals who already hold a graduate degree in Special Education, Psychology or Behavioral Analysis who are seeking certification by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). This is an approved six-course sequence in preparation for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) certification examination. The Program consists of six courses, four of which can be taken during the summer session; the other two will be offered online in the following two semesters.

6 Courses (18 Credits), plus a 1500 hour practicum.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is limited to US citizens or eligible non-citizens with a valid Alien Registration Number. Students must be enrolled in an approved program and be in good academic standing to receive financial aid.
