Studio Art Major: Intermedia: Digital Media and Mixed Media Concentration (B.F.A.)

Links and Contacts

The Intermedia program at Endicott College provides the best of both worlds. With one foot in the traditional arts and the other in technology and mixed media, Intermedia students develop a powerful blend of skills and experience. Students gain a broad range of conceptual tools with which to approach diverse media and processes in an integrated manner. The program is designed to foster inquiry and experimentation into different mediums, i.e. painting, photography, installation, time-based art, earthworks, assemblage/mixed media, and digital art.

What makes us unique is that in the junior year, each studio art major is required to take two courses called Advanced Art Studio and Portfolio & Professional Practices. These two courses are introspective and help students to develop connections within their imagery, while learning how to present their work to galleries, apply for grants and apply for commissions through site-specific installation. We bring professional artists into the classroom to speak to our students on how to carve his or her own niche in the contemporary art world.

The Intermedia program is designed for the student who is interested in entering graduate programs in Intermedia, painting, photography, digital media, and performance art. This concentration will also help students secure work in the design industry, in museums and community art centers.
