Steve Kohr, '06 - Director of Food and Beverage, Ipswich Country Club
Endicott College gave me the tools I needed to find my lifetime hobby. I have a huge passion for this industry and when looking for a career you need to find something that fits you. Without the experience that Endicott College offered me, I would not be as successful as I am today. While in college I learned that challenging your education will take you much further in life. When you challenge yourself to go to the next level, you will become very successful in your future career". During my college internship, I worked at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in London, England and at the newly renovated Sunset Ridge Country Club in Northfield, Illinois. In addition, I have been employed by several Massachusetts' private clubs, ranging from a line cook at the Wychmere Harbor Club on Cape Cod in the summer of 2001, Assistant F&B Manager at the Essex Country Club, Food and Beverage Manager at Tedesco County Club, to my current position at the Ipswich Country Club. My employment at each club was an amazing learning experience, which has given me the opportunity to increase my awareness and understanding of what it takes to run a successful country club.
Alaina Posluszny, '06 - Concierge, Fairmont Copley Hotel Boston
When I was first accepted at Endicott College, I started off as a student in the School of Interior Design. However, after one year of study, I realized it was not for me and that hospitality was really the field I wanted to be in, as I liked to travel and meet all different kinds of people. It took one meeting with the Dean of the Hospitality School, transferred into the program my sophomore year and never looked back. During my years in college, I completed two internships that helped me integrate my studies into the real world. My month long internship was at the Harborside Hotel and Marina in Bar Harbor, ME working the front desk. My semester long internship was at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston, MA working in the sales and catering department. After graduation, I began working at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge, MA as a front desk agent where, within one year, I got promoted to the concierge position. Subsequently I moved to the InterContinental Hotel in Boston, MA, yet returned to where it all started for me: the Fairmont Copley.
