Marketing Communication/Advertising (B.S.)

Students who study Marketing Communication/Advertising take a variety of classes that touch all aspects of this complex industry, including advertising, public relations, and integrated marketing.

The major encourages students to engage in active problem solving. Students develop creative strategies and create a variety of promotional solutions. Students take a hands-on approach to writing, designing, and presenting their ideas and deliverables that include integrated marketing plans, print advertisements, video scripts, and branded content for social media.

Students develop critical thinking and writing skills that are necessary for the ever-changing world of digital marketing, advertising, and public relations. This major gives students a basic understanding of the industry and prepares them to succeed as they build their own unique, professional portfolio and complete their series of internships. Marketing Communication/Advertising graduates gain employment at advertising and PR firms or in a variety of in-house marketing departments.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the marketing communication program, students will:
