Misselwood Concours d'Elegance
Beverly, MA -- On Saturday July 27 and Sunday July 28th, 2013 the Endicott College, Misselwood Concours d’Elegance will be welcoming automobiles and motorcycles spanning 110 years of history. With the oldest vehicle attending being from 1904, and the latest car models from the Lyon-Waugh Auto Group, spectators can be assured to see unique, stunning and extraordinary cars and motorcycles, as close to 200 of them will be on display between Saturday’s Tour d’Elegance and Sunday’s Concours d’Elegance.
Saturday’s inaugural tour will halt in the quaint town of Newburyport, whereby vehicles will be on display at Ferry Wharf. Newburyport Chamber Director Ann Ormond was instrumental in helping to secure this perfect spot by the waterfront to showcase the cars between 8:30am and 10:30am, while Mayor Holaday will be addressing the group before they head back to Endicott College in Beverly. Participants will then follow the Essex Coastal Scenic Byway, which follows parts of route 1A, 133 and 127 and end at the Misselwood Estate, where all vehicles will be on display between 12pm and 2pm. “It will give spectators a preview of what our Sunday event will be like”, says Patrick Cornelissen, Director of Operations and founder of the show, who notes that “Saturday’s event is open to the public”.
Sunday’s Concours d’Elegance is the highlight of the weekend, whereby car owners compete for various best in class and best of show awards. People can expect the classics such as Cadillac, Porsche, Bentley, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Packard or Jaguar to attend, but also lesser known vehicles such as a 1922 Douglas, a 1958 AC Aceca, a 1959 Arthur Bentas’ Raven, 1904 Oldsmobile Curved Dash or even a 1950 Rover 75 Sedan. With a fancy hat competition - spectators are encouraged to showcase their handmade or special hats to win prizes-, a fashion show as well as musical entertainment and art exhibits, there will be plenty to see and do for the entire family. In addition, the Concours Boutique will have apparel such as t-shirts, hats and polo’s for sale on Saturday and Sunday, and tickets will also be able to be purchased from this location.
