R.A.W Dance Concert-PressRelease
11/22/2010
BEVERLY- "Reflections About Why We Dance " is the foundation of this Dance Concert. Students of the Repertory Dance Ensemble will speak honestly about the "raw" reasons behind their dancing in a video documentary. They will convey what inspires them, their life obstacles, and will reflect their thoughts through contemporary dance. Director, Nicole Sao Pedro, uses video and original or "raw" choreography to bring the dance concert to a more personal level between the audience and performers.
"R.A.W." will be performed in "Tia's Theater" Black Box, Center for the Arts, Endicott College, 376 Hale Street, Beverly on Friday December 10, 2010 at 8:00PM and Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 2:00PM and 8:00PM. The tickets are $5 for general admission and free to Endicott ID holders (ticket reservation,www.endicott.edu/centerforthearts or call (978) 998-7700).
"This concert is not only challenging technically for the dancers with choreography but it is also challenging to be honest with themselves when delivering it to their audiences," said choreographer, Sao Pedro. "Creating this show has been a collaboration with the dancers and myself, making sure they are true to the movement in relation to their own words. It has been an amazing experience getting to know the dancers as both technicians and people."
Students and faculty involved in the production include: Nicole Sao Pedro, Coordinator of Dance, of Salem, MA; Jessica Berner of Goshen, CT; Kristin Halls of Westfield, MA; Andrea Le of Marblehead, MA; Leanna Scaglione of Goshen, CT; Laura Tanguay of Gloucester, MA; Brianna Unsworth of Ellington, CT.
