Endicott Appoints New Board Members

Beverly, MA – President Richard E. Wylie announced the recent election of new members to the Endicott College Board of Trustees.  Erika Angle, Jacob Kidder and Jean Smock were nominated and appointed at the October Board meeting.

Endicott College Trustee Dr. Erika AngleErika Ebbel Angle is the CEO and founder of Science from Scientists, a nonprofit organization based in Boston that sends scientists into classrooms in grades 4 through 8 to give lectures and to perform laboratory work. Mrs. Angle earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Boston University School of Medicine in 2012. Her research focused on the implementation of novel technologies in the discovery of biomarkers in Huntington Disease. She is a 2004 graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she majored in Chemistry and minored in music. At MIT she was involved in virology, analytical chemistry, and molecular biology research. 
Erika has served as a commissioner for the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women and is currently serving on a sub-committee of the Massachusetts Governor's STEM Council. In 2007, she was selected by L’Oreal Paris as a Woman of Worth for her work with Science from Scientists and featured on Lifetime TV. She was Miss Massachusetts 2004 in the Miss America Scholarship Program and has appeared on Nova and TLC in shows such as "The Secret Lives of Scientists and Engineers."

Endicott College Trustee Jake KidderJacob Kidder joined Choate Investment Advisors as an Investment Analyst in 2008 after graduating from Endicott College at the top of his class.  At Choate, he is responsible for conducting asset class research and manager due diligence for emerging market bonds, international sovereign bonds, US floating rate loans and US high yield bonds.   While attending Endicott, Jake interned with Smith Barney and Essex Financial Advisors, where he assisted investment managers in researching securities, reviewing client accounts, and developing marketing materials. He founded Endicott's student-run investment club, which was awarded a portion of the school’s endowment to manage, and co-authored three published case studies on business issues ranging from overcapacity in a shipping facility to the economic impact of the recent real estate slump on golf course design and construction.

Jake has passed all three levels of the CFA program and will be eligible for the CFA charter upon completion of the required work experience.

He resides in Brighton, MA.

Endicott College Trustee Jean SmockJean Shanning Smock and the Smock Family purchased PL Custom Body in 1970 when the plant facility was 5,000 square feet and the company produced three ambulances per year with seven employees.  Now, the company occupies 110,000 square feet and has over 130 full-time employees who produce more than 175 ambulances, rescues, and specialty vehicles per year.  When her husband Bud passed away in 2006, Jean assumed the role of CEO, maintaining the family-owned business.  Jean also worked as an Executive Assistant to the President of Time Warner, Inc. of HBO International.

Jean received her Associate of Science degree from Endicott in 1961 and has been an active alumna.  She served as President of the Alumni Association and a member of the Board of Trustees from 2003-2005. She has been a Class Fund Agent, Reunion Chairperson and on the New York Board of Advisors.

Jean Smock resides in Manasquan, NJ.

In making the announcement, Dr. Wylie said, “We are pleased to be adding these distinguished members to the Endicott Board of Trustees.  With their backgrounds they will be invaluable in positioning the College for its future.  All three members have specific strengths that will help to elevate the College.  They have a great respect for improving educational priorities and an interest in helping Endicott to be the best it can be.  They join us at a time when the College is going through some very exciting and remarkable changes.”
