About the Staff

Warren Jaferian, Dean

Background and Experience:  As Dean of Undergraduate International Programs, Warren joined Endicott College following a 20-year career in international business. He served as Global Vice President for Sodexo, a world leader in on-site services & facilities management solutions, responsible for the school, college and university market in 80 countries. His responsibilities included global strategic planning, business development, marketing, strategic partnerships, innovation & best practice, operations management, IT solutions and client relations. His international assignments included postings in Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Chad, and France. 

He has published articles, conducted workshops and delivered keynote addresses to international education associations, NGO’s and governments on topics of international management, cross-cultural business practice, hospitality, the global obesity epidemic, and wellness. His professional memberships include European Council of International Schools (ECIS), East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS), National Association of College & University Business Officers (NACUBO), National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), the International Association of Jesuit Business Schools (IAJBS), and the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC).

Warren has lived in 11 countries, and has traveled to more than 110 countries worldwide, and served in Africa as a development volunteer in the Peace Corps. He was raised in Geneva, Switzerland and attended the College du Leman international school. He received his Bachelors Degree in International Relations and French from Ohio Wesleyan University, and pursued a Masters of Education from Tufts University.
 
Responsibilities:  Warren leads the International Undergraduate Programs office, with his team. His primary responsibilities include development & implementation of the college’s international strategic plan, the internationalization of the campus, strategic institutional partnerships, international student recruitment, international internships, and preparing students for success in the global community.

Lorien Romito, Director

Background and Experience:    Lorien grew up in New England but has spent the majority of her professional life working in New Orleans, San Diego and San Francisco.  She joined Endicott College after her recent relocation to Boston.  Lorien received her Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Spanish from the University of New Hampshire and her Master of Arts in International Education from the School of International Training (SIT) Graduate Institute.  With over 8 years of experience in international education she held positions at Saint Mary’s College of California, Intrax Cultural Exchange and the International School of Louisiana.  Lorien has worked, lived, and studied in Spain, France and Costa Rica and spent a significant amount of time traveling through Asia, Central America and Eastern and Western Europe. 

Responsibilities:  Lorien oversees the International Undergraduate Programs and Immigration Compliance Office.  The office provides support and services to international and study abroad students and manages all international programs at the undergraduate level.  She also collaborates with Endicott Deans, Administrators and Faculty in short-term and long-term international program development and campus-wide internationalization efforts.

Shannon Gerber, International Student Services Advisor

Background and Experience: Originally from Connecticut, Shannon completed her Bachelor’s degree in Japanese Language and Literature at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she studied abroad at Tsukuba University in Ibaraki, Japan for her junior year abroad. She went on to receive her Master’s degree in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University in Cambridge. Shannon worked in the student travel industry for 3 years and has traveled extensively. She also has experience working with international students from South Korea at the high school level as well as international students and scholars at Harvard University. Shannon joined Endicott in 2009.

Responsibilities: Shannon is primarily responsible for advising international students on immigration as well as academic and cultural adjustment issues. She plans programming to integrate international students into the Endicott community and U.S. culture which includes the student peer mentor and international friendship programs. She manages Endicott's compliance with immigration regulations and the new government database SEVIS: the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System.

Lindsey Hery, Study Abroad Advisor

Background and Experience: A Massachusetts native, Lindsey is a graduate of Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Spanish. While at Roanoke, Lindsey studied abroad during her junior year at the Universidad de Málaga in southern Spain. She also spent time on the Island of Ometepe in Nicaragua volunteering at an organic coffee farm and helping out in the village of Balgüe. Lindsey recently completed her class work towards a Masters degree in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University and will receive her degree upon completion of her internship as the Conference Chair for the New England Study Abroad Re-Entry Conference. Lindsey previously worked at Babson College in the Office of International Programs, where she had experiences in both Education Abroad and International Student and Scholar Advising. Lindsey joined Endicott in August 2011.

Responsibilities: Lindsey is primarily responsible for advising undergraduate students who are interested in studying abroad during their time at Endicott. She also guides students in applying and preparing for short term programs abroad as well as internships abroad. Lindsey assists students in the preparation for the experience abroad culturally, financially and logistically. When Endicott students return home, Lindsey will work with them to develop ways to make the most of their experiences.
