In the afternoon, the Rose Performance hall was filled with students, faculty, and members of the local community who heard Dr. Elkind speak on a variety of issues relevant to educating children, including the role of play in early education.
In the evening, Dr. Elkind spoke to students in the Keys to Degrees single parent program, Connecting Young Mom's of Beverly program, and a representative from the Lynn Public School's teen parent program. Dr. Elkind focused on the role of technology in education and shared his knowledge, wisdom and guidance on a variety of education-related topics. He left the strong and resilient mothers with one piece of advice, "Take care of you first, in order to be a better parent to your child." Dr. Elkind's presentation was followed by a question and answer time, dinner, and a book signing.
