Hands-on Canvas Workshops for Faculty and Staff

Late May and early June 2015 Schedule

Please RSVP to Jane Tutein at jtutein@endicott.edu , if you plan to attend a workshop because space is limited. All workshops will be taught in Halle Library, Room 119.

Prerequisite for workshops is completion of the Canvas Faculty Orientation self-paced course. When you RSVP for a workshop, you will be enrolled in the self-paced course!

Getting Started with Canvas

This introductory workshop will cover the basics of using Canvas in your face-to-face classes. Learn how to post your syllabus, customize your course Home Page, use communication tools (announcements and Inbox) and publish your course so students can access. Prerequisite: complete the self-paced Faculty Orientation and bring your syllabus on a USB drive

Transfer GullNet Materials to Canvas

Are you planning on importing content from GullNet to Canvas? Would you like guidance/assistance with this process? If so, come to this workshop and work through the steps of transferring GullNet content (handouts, bookmarks, online quizzes, discussions) to your Canvas course shell. Prerequisite: complete the self-paced Faculty Orientation

Build Your Canvas Course I – Create and Organize Course Content

Whether you have transferred GullNet materials into Canvas or bring a digital copy of materials on USB drive/laptop drive, you need to organize your files, web links and other content in Canvas. Attend this workshop and learn how to use Files and folders to organize course files, use the Pages tool and Rich Content editor to add content and link to online educational resources, and utilize Modules to organize all content. Prerequisite: complete the self-paced Faculty Orientation

Build Your Canvas Course II - Assignments, Discussions and Grading

This workshop will provide hands-on instruction on how to set up your assignments, create and weight assignment groups; add graded and ungraded discussions and use Speedgrader (built in grading tool). Participants will also explore the different gradebook settings and options. Prerequisite: complete the self-paced Faculty Orientation

Canvas Quizzes

The Canvas Learning Management System contains a powerful and flexible quizzing platform. Attend this session to learn how to import quizzes from GullNet or other test building tools, build your own quiz questions, develop and use question banks, establish quiz settings, and view test analytics. Prerequisite: This workshop is designed for individuals who have completed Build Your Canvas Course I and II or have prior experience with the Canvas

Canvas Groups and Collaborations

Canvas enhances class teamwork by easing group creation and collaboration. Workshop attendees will learn how to create and manage groups and group assignments, and the collaborative potential of live-edited documents. Prerequisite: This workshop is designed for individuals who have completed Build Your Canvas Course I and II or have prior experience with the Canvas.
