New Macintosh System Recommendations

New Mac Computer Purchase Recommendations Academic Year 2012 - 2013

If you are planning to purchase a new computer for the Fall of 2012, we ask that you take note of our recommendations for a new computer purchase:

Department of Visual Communication

Endicott College requires all incoming students to bring to campus a laptop that meets the specifications of their respective majors. The Visual Communications Department requires Graphic Design and Photography students purchase an Apple laptop computer; below are specifications:   

15” Macbook Pro

  • 2.6 GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
  • 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM — 2x4GB
  • 750GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm
  • SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
  • MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy Widescreen Display

Recommended Storage

  • LaCie Rugged Mini HD, 500 G, 7200 RPM (or equivalent make/model)  

Recommended Software

  • Adobe Creative Suite CS6.0 Design and Web Premium

All students should also have a 25' Category 5 Ethernet network cable, and a USB flash memory stick and/or external hard drive for saving and backing-up data. Also, please be sure to bring to campus all media and peripheral devices that came with your computer.

Software:
Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac is highly recommended.

Virus protection is required for students who elect to dual boot their Mac computers and is provided free through Endicott.
